Unique Local Hand Crafted Items:
POTTERY: We feature the pottery of two fine potters from the Carolinas in our store.
Elizabeth Kirven of Pinksolray Studios has placed a few pieces with us, which include wind chimes, plates, bowls, mugs, vases, and pitchers. Each piece is hand-created and unique. Her utilitarian pottery is constructed of low fire earthenware of raw clay, which is dug from the banks of the Lynches River in the Pee Dee of South Carolina. All the glazes on her utilitarian pottery are lead free and food safe.
Rosemary Peduzzi has been a potter and a dear friend of Charlie and Alice for over thirty years. Her style includes a wide variety of forms and she loves to experiment with different clay bodies and different types of firing—salt, gas, electric, and wood kiln firing as well as raku, an ancient Japanese way of firing pottery. Her lovely pieces are all oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe, food safe and made to be used as well as admired.
JEWELRY, WREATHS, BAGS, PILLOWS, SELECT CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES, AFGHANS, TOY BEARS with Ovis Hill Farm wool sweaters, and PAINTED FURNITURE are made for our store by a variety of local artists: Alicia Caldwell, Nancy Tovar, Linda , the talented McCarley family, Alice Caldwell, Frances Lloyd, and Mary Ann Stewart. The inventory is always changing and many items can be custom-made and personalized to your specifications. Come see what we might have for you or for gifts.
ADIRONDACK CHAIRS AND SWINGS: Try these out at the front of our store; they are amazingly comfortable and made to last a lifetime by our friend and neighbor, Buck Carter.
YARNS: made from Ovis Hill Farm sheep. We have a supply of natural-colored wool yarn in a couple of plies and a select amount of naturally dyed Ovis Hill Farm wool. Our friend Dede Styles who was at our festivals this fall has dyed some yarn for us using barks, flowers and other natural ingredients for color. Yarn is ready to knit or crochet and does not require dry-cleaning.
SHEEPSKINS: We have a few that are available now and can have one made for you in a size and pile that suits. Our skins are machine washable and dryable after we have them processed.
